I'm a Los Angeles native with a brain full of skewed visions & eyes full of hearts.
I'm pretty good with the pen or marker. I'm very good with a knife or scissors.
I have a terrible coffee habit, very little patience & a pet T. Rex named Thomas.
I'm pleased by pretty things and small considerations.
I'm displeased by busy design & people who speak too loudly.
I also don't like talking about myself.
So instead, Frequently Asked Questions!
How do you pronounce Serpenthes?
Any way you like, it's a made up word.
But it's pronounced sir-penth-ehs.
Where do I buy your work?
Online you may purchase via the shop on Etsy: serpentes.etsy.com
Out in the real world, my prints and stationery have had limited runs in brick & mortar shops all over Southern California including All Aboard! in Echo Park, Local Collection in Glendale & Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney, Anaheim. If you'd like to carry my work, please contact me.
When is your next art show?
I admit, I don't do them often. The next one for 2013 is in September.
I update information on social networks for this kind of thing so keep a weathered eye.
Want me to contribute to yours? Email me, I'd probably love to: serpenthes@yahoo.fr
What are your favorite pens/papers?
Sakura Microns own my heart forever. I use them exclusively for my more detailed black & white work.
My sketch books are always spiral-bound Canson books. I love textured, heavyweight Bristol board.
And! I still write letters. Crane & Co. makes some of my favorite stationery in the world. Cotton paper, comrades. Divine.
What is your dream art project?
Designing & furnishing my own home.
How do I contact you?
What makes you think I wanna hear from you, huh? Ok, so I do.
You can always harrass me via various social networks. All that is here.
If you want to talk about a commission or custom order, email is king: serpenthes@yahoo.fr
What was the first thing you ever drew?
I drew a ton as a kid, my ma still has most of those. But as an actual person, first things I remember drawing with ink were trees. Gnarly, bare trees with long tangled branches.
How did you get to be so damned talented? (Thanks, Other Dad :)
I come from a creative tribe & surround myself with patient people that seem to love the crazys.
